Department of Insurance
Wyoming operates a modified prior approval rate system where competitive markets use File and Use procedures, while noncompetitive markets require 30-day prior approval. The state maintains a monopolistic workers' compensation system administered by the Department of Workforce Services. Wyoming has not expanded Medicaid and uses the federal health insurance marketplace. The Insurance Department, led by Commissioner Jeffrey P. Rude since 2019, emphasizes consumer protection and market competitiveness, recently rescinding all historical exemptions to ensure full compliance with the Insurance Code.
