Department of Insurance
Idaho operates a File and Use rate system for most insurance lines, allowing insurers to implement rates upon filing with certification of actuarial soundness. The state has a pro-business regulatory environment while maintaining consumer protections through active Department oversight. Idaho expanded Medicaid in 2019, operates a successful state-based health insurance exchange (Your Health Idaho), and has been addressing property insurance challenges related to increasing wildfire risks through data collection initiatives and proposed wildfire mitigation funding.
